How do I start a recording session at HQ?

This article will walk you through setting up your first session at HQ.

We recommend you start each new session by restarting the computer. This ensures the previous session is wiped and you have a clean slate.

The computer password is Soundspace

  1. Starting in the vocal booth, locate the floor box (black square with numbers on it)
  2. Patch your microphone signal using the patch bay. (See this guide for details)
  3. In this example, your signal flow should look like this picture:

  4. The first patch cable brings the signal from channel 1 in the  "BOOTH OUT" section, to channel 1 "WA-273 IN" and the second cable takes the signal from "WA-273 OUT" to "APOLLO IN"
  5. Once you have your patch cables routed correctly, just make sure to select "LINE" as your setting for channel one on the APOLLO interface. You can do this by pressing the input button on the Apollo, or by clicking the green text in channel 1 on the "Console" software on the computer.
  6. After you have routed your signal and changed your input settings, the final step is to turn on the 48v, or "phantom power" button or toggle switch on the preamp you have routed to. In this case we used the WA-273. Make sure the preamp is set to "mic", and that the gain is at a sufficient level to record your sound.
  7. You should be good to go! Check your levels by recording a mic check.

Please follow all guidelines and policies while in this location.

Remember: all files should be saved to Google Drive or an external hard drive to avoid being lost. Files saved to the computer WILL be deleted after each session.
